In the post, Lee went on to say that it wasn’t the end he wanted and he was gutted about the whole season and all he wanted to do was play football.
To be honest, I still don’t understand why the club didn’t play Lee this season, I find it really strange and I don’t believe the full story about what happened or why he wasn’t picked to play has come out or will ever come out. There is no doubt that Lee is a top ‘fox in the box’ striker and he did amazingly well in League One. I don’t think he would have been the same striker in the championship BUT he would have given us something different up front and he would have got a few goals that much is very clear but the factor someone like Ashley Fletcher was picked before him, just doesn’t make sense to me. Yes, Lee is 35 and wouldn’t have been able to play every game but he could have given us at least 30 minutes here and there and he still would have been miles about Flecther.
It’s been a real shame how this has ended for Lee and I think as a club, it should have been much better towards him, but I guess it’s done now and there’s nothing else that can be done.
Thanks for all you have done for the club Lee.
