Once again the annual fans forum throws up confusion and anger amongst Wednesday fans and the media.
The fans forum which was held on Wednesday the 15th of January proved to be another kick in the teeth for us fans as it was suggested that Dejphon Chansiri and Danny Röhl have had a communication breakdown, at the perfect time of the season!!
How deep or why there has been a communication breakdown, we will never really know but to be honest, I don’t think it’s that big of an issue. I think the real issue is the lack of understanding that Chansiri has of english. It was said in the forum that Chansiri and Röhl haven’t spoken about transfers and Röhl hasn’t given a list of the players he would like to Chansiri, now of course this would seem like there is a problem and everyone was wondering why, is there an issue and so on. Then on Friday Röhl held the normal pre-match press conference where he said, he speaks to the recruitment team all the time about transfers, players and so on, so where is the issue? Instead of speaking to Chansiri, Röhl speaks to the recruitment team which is based here and he can have face to face meetings with, which seems better than speaking to Chansiri on the phone or via email about recruitment.
Danny speaks to the recruitment team, then the recruitment team speaks to Chansiri (so Danny can get on with all the other things he has to do) – I don’t see an issue with that but maybe I am wrong and missing something.
I’ll go back to my main point, which is for me, I think most of the confusion comes from Chansiri’s english, I have listened to him for the last 10 years (when he speaks about the club anyway) and every single time he is asked a questions about something, I always find myself thinking, ‘I don’t think DC understood that question’ – ‘the question wasn’t meant in that way’ and so on, so when Chansiri gives an answer back, everyone is like ‘what’ and it just causes confusion and a lot of misunderstandings which then get played out on social media and the main media which just turns everything into an issue!”
